China Lunar Probe Chang'e-1 Microwave Sounder - Design and some results
China first lunar probe satellite “Chang’E-1(CE-1)” was successfully launched on Oct.24th, 2007 and reached the lunar polar working orbit with 200km altitude from lunar surface on Nov.7th . CE-1 satellite had been working normally during more than one year life time and has collected huge scientific data and images. Chang’E-1 microwave sounder (CELMS) is a four-frequency microwave radiometer. T...

متن کاملPreliminary Analysis of Mircowave Brightness Temperature of the Luanr Surface from Chang-e 1 Multi-channel Radiometer Observation and Inversion of Regolith Layer Thickness
Introduction: Previous investigations have shown that, with few exceptions, the lunar surface consists of a regolith layer that completely covers the underlying bedrock. The average thickness of this regolith layer has been estimated to be about 4-5 m for the mare and about 10-15 m for the highlands [1]. Knowledge of the structure, composition and distribution of the lunar regolith provides imp...
متن کاملCo-registration of Chang’e-1 Stereo Images and Laser Altimeter Data for 3d Mapping of Lunar Surface
This paper presents a method for co-registration of Chang’E-1 lunar orbiter stereo images and laser altimeter (LAM) data for 3D mapping of lunar surface. First, a digital elevation model (DEM) is automatically generated from the three-line CCD stereo images based on rigorous pushbroom sensor model and multi-level image matching. The DEM is then registered to LAM data through surface matching wi...
متن کاملSimulation of brightness temperature from lunar surface and inversion of regolith-layer thickness
[1] A correspondence of the lunar regolith-layer thickness to the lunar digital elevation mapping is proposed to tentatively construct the global distribution of lunar regolith-layer thickness. Using Clementine ultraviolet visible multispectral data, the global spatial distribution of FeO + TiO2 content on the lunar regolith layer is calculated. Thus the dielectric permittivity of the global lu...
